Blown sub?

What are the signs of a blown sub? My sub works....but at low volumes theres a knocking sound from it. You dont notice it if the volume is up. It sounds like if something is loose under the dust cap.hmmm. Its a Digital Designs 2515 btw. I've made a small video of it where im tapping the cone and you can hear the sound. When i push down on the centre of the cone theres no scratching sounds or anything. Any ideas what this sound is and if i might be able to repair it?

Cheers.

fixed ;-)

can you hook it up to the amp and play some test tone to reproduce the problem?

Also measure the impedance of the coil(individually) with a DMM and report back

The code for it is [ YT ] in front and [ /YT ] after without the spaces between the brackets then just copy anything after the = sign between those. Highlighted in red above.

Is there scratching when you pull up on the sub? Hard to tell in your video, but almost sounds like a lifted coil. Does the cone still have full travel? When does it scratch? All the time? Only in one area?

See thats the weird thing. If i push down on it theres no scratching,if i pull up on it theres no scratching, but when its playing it sounds like...... theres a coin jumping around on a subwoofer with a plastic cone. lol

In this video you can only hear the sub noise when the trunk is open. Otherwise it sounds fine. hmmm

this is like the exact same issue going on with another forum member (DaVibe)...

my tfone made that noise when it played and it was because the spider assembly became detacted from what looked to be the spacer
