ORION XTR200 performance?
ORION XTR200 performance?
Hello Everyone,
I've had an orion xtr200 amp for a few years now and i hear great things about this amp. however my concearn is this, i just dont think i have the right match up with sub and amp or somthing. my friends little setup is so much louder and powerful than mine.
the amp has a 125A stinger amp wiring kit, 4 gauge wire, i trimmed the wire down to fit into the + input. the harness that comes with the amp, it has 2 yellow wires, one - one +. and 2 orange outputs as well. i am using the + of orange to the + on one voice coil and that jumpered to + on the 2nd coil. vice versa with the yellow to the - side of one voice coil jumpered to the other negative.
the sub is a kaption DVC 15" rated at 1000w max and 500w rms.
all gains turned up and it just doesnt boogie. what can i do to correct this, get more power out of her? im alright with a multimeter, what should i be looking for and id just appreciate any suggestions from you guys. im buying a newer car soon and id like to have this stuff properly set up this time around.
all helpful opinions are soo greatly appreciated.

Well it looks like you are using the amplifier in stereo, you are using half the power of the amplifier (200w), however, since this amplifier cannot handle 2 ohms mono, your combination subwoofer-amplifier is not optimal, you should either change the sub or the amp.
If you bridge the amp and parallel the woofer voicecoils, you will fry the amp in no time. That amp is meant to drive some nice comps in the first place.
What's your sub box like? Sealed, ported? Is it the right size?
Let me know if you plan on selling that amp, I have a friend that would possibly be interested in it.
I have a few amps available if you're in the market, Alpine MRD-M500 (500w rms, it would be perfect for your sub)
