I was told I needed a new altenator for my system, 1800watt mono block, 200 watt digital amp, my new altenator is rated at 130 amps. Once its all put together I will be able to comment on if it needs a capicator. I'm hoping not since the ones I've seen cost $400.

Your 'new' alternator...how much bigger is it than the stock one that came with the car?

Your 'new' alternator...how much bigger is it than the stock one that came with the car? </font>[/QUOTE]the old one put out 50amps idle and 79 at higher revs, according to the mechanic that tested it
Rule of thumb is that you need 1/3 your amps maximum current pull for them to work to full potential with music...
Caps may help your amps produce clean transients, but for the cost involved they are often a waste of time...
