Hey guys I was hoping someone here could really explain how I should set my audio up in my jeep. I recently purchased Infinity reference series speakers and tweeters(came in a kit) with crossovers included. I have the speakers and tweeters hooked up and now I am looking into getting a 10" sub woofer with a whole lot of ***** to it. First of all what type of suggestions do you have for the type of sub woofer I should get?

Secondly my speakers are supposed to be hooked up to a power amp which I have not purchased yet, but as for the type of amp; should I get one with multiple channels?? and if my speakers are maxed at 250watts, and I am planning on a subwoofer with 800 or more watts, what do you guys suggest.

As you can see I'm new to the whole sub woofer and power amp thing.

When looking at speakers, ignore the max power rating . . . most companies put the max on there to help customers match up speakers with amps both of which have over-blown ratings to make them look more impressive.

Instead look at the RMS of the speaker. Infinity I'm guessing will be somewhere around 60-90watts RMS, so getting an amp rated at 75 wrms x 2 is your best bet. But if cost is an issue right now, you don't NEED an amp, you can run them off of your head unit . . . but an amp upgrade will make a nice improvement in both quality and quantity of sound.

As for a sub, what kind of Jeep do you have? Is it a convertible? Or regular wagon? Soft-top convertibles take a bit more power to get loud as you lose a lot of cabin gain (cabin gain is the increased volume experienced when there is a "cabin" to keep the sound energy contained)
