Post Sealed Or Ported?

hello, i just have a few questions reguarding sub enclosures, right know in my car i have 2 12inch Sony P5 subs in a sealed enclosure it hits pretty hard but i don't get the punch that i want so i went and bought a Jl Audio 12W3 sub ( just 1) for now, i was wondering if i should port that enclosure or if i should just Seal it? i'am getting rid of them Sony's just so you know and i'm just going to use 1 subwoofer for now,, would that Jl sound much better then those Sony's and will i get that punch that i'm looking for? also i listen to Rap and some Alternative.

Any help will be great..
Thanks

well quoted from the God of car audio, "blow your mind, port you box".

too me a ported box gives a "fuller" sound. but usually a sealed box will give more punch, a ported box will generaly be louder and hit lower(if tuned low).

Porting it correctly will sound great and it will be louder than sealed...

Porting it poorly and you wasted the effort

Sealed sounds as good, and you can use a smaller box and is easier...

Make sure you have a subsonic filter, either in the amp, or buy an F-Mod.....way cleaner, and safer too!
