Sealed Or Ported?
hello, i just have a few questions reguarding sub enclosures, right know in my car i have 2 12inch Sony P5 subs in a sealed enclosure it hits pretty hard but i don't get the punch that i want so i went and bought a Jl Audio 12W3 sub ( just 1) for now, i was wondering if i should port that enclosure or if i should just Seal it? i'am getting rid of them Sony's just so you know and i'm just going to use 1 subwoofer for now,, would that Jl sound much better then those Sony's and will i get that punch that i'm looking for? also i listen to Rap and some Alternative.
Any help will be great..
Thanks

well quoted from the God of car audio, "blow your mind, port you box".
too me a ported box gives a "fuller" sound. but usually a sealed box will give more punch, a ported box will generaly be louder and hit lower(if tuned low).

One thing I have to give JL credit for, I love to see this:
Ported Enclosure Range: 2.00-3.00 cu.ft.
If they are going to recommend a vented box they make damn sure that the woofer is going to PERFORM in that box! Way to go JL!
Oh - and PORT THAT SUMBISH!
