After talking to a local audio shop. I worked out a deal for an Alpine cda-9811 for $375 out the door. Is this a good price?? The owner said he's only making $20 on it.

The owner of the shop also said that Alpine refurbishes some of their decks and sells them as new again. Is this true?? I find it hard to believe!!

Any help would be great!!

Most companies do sell repaired stock as new again, however it is sold as new "B" stock, not "A" stock. Thus the dealers cost is usually lower on the "B" stock items. Sometimes warranties are still the same, sometimes they are not. It is up to the dealer to tell you if it is "A" stock product or "B" stock product, most reputable dealers will inform you of this before you even ask. As far as the deal goes on your cd player I am not an Alpine dealer so I cannot comment on your pricing, but if you feel comfortable with the deal, that's great. Alot of stores at this time of year don't sell that many cd players in general, thus pricing is usually pretty good for the consumer. The local dealer needs and appreciates your business, buy from him and he will be there for you the next time you need something.

on ebay they're going for around 320 brand new, so looks like you didn't get ripped. Thats of course assuming that its not refurbished..seems kind of odd that he would mention that to you unless that's what you were buying..I believe that he is obligated to tell you if it is refurbished..not sure though

I was trying to bluff the guy telling him I can get the same deck else where at 2001 Audio/Video for $360. He told me for that price get it there!! But let me warn you that deck could be refurbish.

I think I'll get it from this guy. He seems to know his stuff, plus he's been in business for 15 years. He's known a family member of mine for about 12 years, so I think he's on the up and up.

Thanks,
Anthony

Its a reasonable deal. Get it at the audio shop and then if you ever have problems you have somewhere to return it, and you have a warranty to fall back on.

Now if you could get it new on Ebay for $250 then I'd say go get it there. Taking more risk on Ebay doesn't make more sense just to save a few bucks.
