Seems like a problem that everyone runs into sooner or later. And now is my turn.

I just installed a JH404 4ch amp to new Infinity speakers. I also have a Clarion Mono Amp running my 2x Shock Z4 subs.

Problem is that I'm recieving some noise, mostly only for a bit after turning on my power through my rear speakers it seems.

Here's the weird part now. I only have a 2x RCA out Head Unit. So I dedicated the rear out to the mono amp, and used a splitter on the front out for both the rear and front inputs on the 4ch. So why am I only getting feedback on the rears?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your RCA's. Sounds like its grounding out somewhere.

 

I noticed that the speaker where it was making the noise was only (or at least mostly) the rear passenger speaker. I looked at the cable and it was stuck to the magnet. So I pulled it off.

I turned on the sound and I didn't hear the noise.

So could this have been my problem? Or do you think I still have a looming issue.

Could have been. Running an AC signal through a magnetic field will excite it and could provide an odd feedback to the speaker or the amp.

 

It's not as bad now, but the speaker still makes some irregular noises when I turn on my deck. With the odd one during play. Hmmm....

It's only the rear passenger speaker too... I'm stumped.

 

Does the speaker read the correct impedance when you use an ohm meter on it?

 

Not entirely sure. It seemed to read 3 Ohm, but I was having trouble getting into a good area where I could see exactly where I was touching.

However it seems that the buzzing is now limited to only when the car has been turned on. So I guess that would be a ground loop.

Therefore I should look for a different grounding point?

 

The problem is only the rear passenger speaker correct? and both are wired to a single Mono amp correct? So the amp and all its power and rca wiring is common to both speakers. So look at only what is unique to the offending speaker. Normally there is no electrical connection between the speaker cables and the speaker metal basket/chassis. Take a look at all your connectections. Try switchign the speakers to see if the problem changes sides also. etc.

 

The FRONT output of the deck is split to both the FRONT & REAR inputs of the 4ch Amp. The rears are then plugged into the rear output of the 4ch.
