12 volt power question

I currently have a sat radio drawing power from my 12 v lighter plug, and I currently have my front dash apart, so I was wondering if I got an inline fuse and connected it to the battery lead and spliced the wire from the sat radio power to connect to the new line off the battery would this eliminate the need to use the lighter plug?

so you wnat to connect the sat +12volt power in line directly to the battery to free up the light? if so then yes you can do this! as for fusing... i don't know how much to fuse it say 5amps?

take apart the fuse within the end of the plug for the sat radio power and it should be fused. just see what size it uses.

i would personally just tap into the end of the cigarette litter wire and not bother fusing it.

No. You can't do it that way because Sat Radio uses 5 volts, not 12. Either take it to a professional or find an adaptor that will work for you.

The lighter circuit puts out 12 volts and the sat system takes 5.
