Question capacitor?

i have two 10 inch pioneer subs powered by a 1200 w rockford fosgate amp and i am getting a amp to power my back 6 by 9's 80 watt nominal each and i was thinking about installing a capacitor with my subs. 1. what is a capacitor 2. what does it do 3. where does it go. 4. what kind should i buy

if anyone could answer these i would greatly appreciate it thanks

1. its like a quick discharging/recharging battery.
2. it helps with voltage drops, keeps voltage around 13+ volts
3. goes inline with your main power wire to the sub amp
4. buy one that you like

I would recommend doing the BIG 3 upgrade first. Capacitors are really meant to help with dimming lights, and voltage drops. But by doing the "big 3" it does the exact same thing.

is the big 3, the upgrading of wires from alternator, chasis, and power/ground?

I wouldn't say the cap goes 'in-line'. Really it goes in parallel (power and ground) and I'd put it on your main power feed for both amps. Mine are connected with 0 ga. to the battery side of my main distribution blocks.

WallyWorld has 1 & 2 farad caps.

Alot of people use a 1 Farad for every 1000W I find that if you double it you will be better off, especially with Caps getting cheaper and cheaper. The Last few installs i have done we were using 2 Farad caps on a Kaption 250.2 HC and were only getting up to .5V drop on a heavey note.

BIG 3 is essential; however, I find a my .5 mfd cap did wonders for my little system in addition to the big three.
