Ok so here's my setup. I need to wire it up here once I get my sub box. I have a 1.2 Farad Capacitor, a 200watt RMS 4-channel amp to run speakers, and a 700watt RMS Mono amp to run 12" sub in a ported box. How should this be wired up. Should I wire the cap to the battery and hook it to the mono amp only, and hook the speaker amp up to the battery separately, or should I hook up the fuse to the battery, the cap to the fuse and the cap to a distributor and both amps to the distributor. I'm have the wiring speakers and subs to the amp part down. I just need to decide which way of wiring up the amps and cap to the battery works best. Also, I think I ground the negative terminal on the cap, rather than hooking it to the battery right. What setup is best for this. Thanks for helping me figure it out.

 

4gauge (fused) from the battery to the back,then to the cap,then a distribution block then to the amps.Always keep your grounds as short and clean as possible!

You could use the cap as the distrobution block but you already spent the money... As long as the cap in anywhere on the circuit it will do its function.

 

i would use the cap to just to run the mono separate. the 4 channel can be run off a lead from the battery.

i would also upgrade the wire to 0ga from the battery to the cap, than use the required ga from the cap to the amp.

i feel with two amps there is no need for a distro block, just fuse the lines before the firewall.

also ground each amp to a solid point on the chassis making sure to remove any paint.

Actually, it would be better to ground both amps to the cap, then just put one 0 awg ground from the cap to chassis. Saves money and makes it more simple.

 

depends on where the amps/cap is located? if the cap is further away from the amp, than you have to run longer leads to the cap. or do you figure that there is less resistance grounding at the cap compared to the chassis?

 

Resistance isnt what im talking about, if you put all your amp grounds to the cap, then you only need to ground the cap and not the cap and amps, because they are all just hitched on to one ground that way.
