Ok I've got a chance to pick up a new Alpine MRD-1005 12V amplifier in trade for some gear of mine but I already have a mono amp, a kicker KX1200.1
I was wondering if you guys think the alpine amp is better/comparable to the Kicker that i've had for years now?
The Alpine is 1000w at 2ohm whereas the Kicker is 1200 @1ohm

also they guy would be giving me a 12" Type X sub rated at 1000w @2ohm which would be great for the alpine amp..

Thoughts?

 

The Kicker is a great amp....but so is the Alpine.I have a 1005 and love it....but if you already own the Kicker stick with it!

 

My choice would be easy. Both are great amps but if im running at 2 ohms then Im keeping the one that maximizes the amp's output.

 

At 2 ohms the Alpine is more powerful, but if you plan on adding another sub later, then that 1ohm will be very useful. As far as which is better...both are excellent!!
