Question K2 Power (Focal)

Anyone used or even tried any of the K2 Power series subwoofers?

Wondering how they are for SQ and range.

Right now I have 2 AVI SLS-300 and they are excellent drivers but I will be building a completely new system over the winter months and wanting input.

I was also considering the Alpine typeX 12" or maybe the Zapco line.
Normally I just add sub bass to enhance, but I do like a subwoofer that can loosen your eyeteeth (hard hitting) but also musical, so take it from there.

Thanks

ps: suggestions......

Two drivers that have very good SQ and will loosen everything in your car are the OZ Matrix Elite and the Image Dynamics IDmax. They don't require a ton of power either as 600-800 is perfect to get them very loud. Both work excellent in sealed and ported enclosure's and both are right at the top of the SQ ladder.
If you're already feeding your AVI's 500rms or more then I feel switching to one of these two drivers would yield more output with similar power with just as much SQ ability.
What amp are you currently using on your SLS300's?

Thumbs up

The K2P Subwoofers are very good SQ subs and they hit hard too.........just to throw something else in the mix..........check these out........coming in November 2006..........the new Hertz Mille Subwoofer.

Probably the hottest subwoofers to come out for awhile......!! Awesome SQ woofers, with tons of power handling and output. Very cool V-Cone design too.

www.hertzaudiovideo.com

Click on the English version, unless your Italian is good.........and check out the third section on this page for the Mille Subwoofer and new Hertz amplifiers that are coming soon too.

10" are gonna be around $800-$900 12" - $900-$1000 and 15" around $1200-$1400...........pricing will be confirmed soon. And yes, that is each !!

Still cheaper than the Focal K2P subs...........much newer design, 30% better cooling than the JL W7 woofers and 1200-1500 watts RMS Power Handling on the various sizes.

Thumbs up

The Eclipse Titanium sounds like a bullet proof sub, need more specs on that one. I will probably be going with the Zapco 1100.1 amp to power the sub I decide on.

I would also like to be able to hit around 140db with it if possible so it will need to be bullet proof. I must say that I am a bit afraid to crank on my AVI's to see what they will do, but I am sure I could hit better than my recent 133.8db if I bumped up the gain.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.....keep em coming.

Put more power to your current drivers. Likely all you'll need. Go to the shop you normally deal with and ask to swap in a bigger amp to see if you like it. Try ~1000rms for the pair. They'll take it just fine.
