help with a box?
help with a box?
i desperately need some help with building a proper box for my subs to fit in my car.
the spot that the box will be going has these available measurements:
W=46"
H=11"
D=16"
and the subs are 2 alpine type x 10's. everything i found says that the optimal ported box volume for each sub is 1.4cu.ft, so 2.8cu.ft together.
the car it will be going into is my '99 ford crown vic that i recently picked up.
if someone could also tell me how to post pics, i can post a pic of the spot in my trunk where the box will fit.

If you want something simple and easy, plug in your dimensions into the RE Enclosure Calc and see what you end up with. I'd suggest 3 cubic feet @ 32hz cause the actual tuning will be 4 hz higher and the cubic footage is often off by alot.
If you want a proper design, with carefully done bluprints and proper enclosure software, I can sketch you up something once I get home from work tonight. I do charge for blueprints but its well worth the small payment.

I'm thinking common chamber slot ported. And as for blueprints, I have absolutely no money availabe to pay for them. I don't need something huge or technical. Even something done on ms paint that just has a rough dewing with all the measurements. My main question is how big should I make the port?
so i messed around with the RE calculator and this is what i came up with, not sure if this seems right or how it will sound/perform in the end, but this is what i got
box width=46
box height=11.5
box depth=16
wood thickness=0.75
square port height=10
square port width=3.5
port length 1=11.75
port length 2=5
total port length=22.75
square port area=35
box volume=3.266
tuned frequnecy=32.3
