fitting 5.25 components in 6x9" hole ?

I have a 91 cutty spreme, and I want to purchase a component set of 5.25", but unfortunatly, my door speakers are 6x9" stock gms lol.. I was wondering if I was to cut the hole a bit bigger, would it become an issue with the window ? Does anybody have any experience with olds cutlass supremes ? hehe.. that'd be wicked !.. anyways, if not, I'm ganna go ahead and rip apart the door, and figure something out, i'm good with fibreglass, and if worse comes to worse, I can make some add ons for depth problems, when comes warmer days.

any help on what kind of speakers are in the dash would help here some pics.

simple, take a piece of MDF, make it the size of the 6x9, and cut out a 5.25 hole in the center of it, screw that into the stock 6x9 opening, and screw your new 5.25 driver into that...

you can even buy them if you don't want to make them..

regards, Mark

I had a 92 chevy that had 4x6 in the doors. I used a jigsaw on the door metal and a knife on the door plastic, plywood spacers and i made 6.5 MTX Black Gold components fit. The midbass has to be solid but the flush mount tweeter works fine just in the door panel plastic.
On the dash, they were 3" and there's not much room to go bigger. First i had Boston 2-way. Burned them up and got Kicker 2-way coax.

Good Luck!
