I bought a kenwood excelon kdc-x789 used not too long ago and have been having no real issues with it up to now. I disconnected my positve battery terminal yesterday, and when I reconnected it, an "Enter Security Code" prompt came on the screen. I cannot remember if I had to do this when I first put the deck in, but if I had, I would have made the code something like 0-0-0-0 so that I'd remember it. No combination i've tried has worked and I'm wondering if anyone knows if theres any way around this or if im just royally focked. Thanks

 

better contact the original owner otherwise kenwood will not help you unless you have the receipt. Basically they'll think you stole it. That may be the reason no one has responded to you on this matter.

 

yah I was kind of afraid of that. I managed to contact the guy I bought it from after I posted this and he gave me a code to try, so I'll have to give that a shot later on.

 

You could always contact Kenwood directly and explain to them you bought it used and see what they say. good luck
