Okay, I'm alright with simple stereo stuff. But not so much when it gets technical. I've never even really figured out the ohms thing. But anyways, say I have a 2 channel amp that I want to run 2 subs off of. Which is better, running 1 sub on 1 channel, or bridging them both?

what sub ?
is the sub 2 oms 4 oms
can the amp do 2oms
are you doing sq or spl (i like to do a 4oms for a sq set up but that is just me )
for the bigges spl i think you wou would run 1ch set up at 2 oms or less if the amp can do it

 

The question is a lot simpler than all that, really, the system is basic...the subs are older Clarions. 4ohm. Amp is a newer MTX, 2ohm stable. Sound quality is a non-issue, it's going into a bush beast. I want to know which will get me a bigger bump, going into each channel individually or bridging. And how should I bridge it, if I'm going to do it? Both + into channel 1 and both - into channel 2 (or whichever way it goes, I don't have any amps handy to look at right now) or one wire into channel 1 +, one wire into channel 2 -, and the opposite for the other sub? As you can probably tell, I don't usually get very technical.

 

run em in parallel, so 2 ohms total load mono. if the amp can take it. if its a 2 chan amp its likely 4ohm's mono... i would say run 1 sub per chann.

 

Okay, the amp is an MTX 3202 and the subs are 12" svc Clarion SRW3041. If that helps. Run them in parallel? I'm confused, sorry man...

 

That amp can only bridge at 4 ohms, so NO, you cannot run two 4 ohm subs in paralell which would give you a 2 ohm load.

You'll have to run one off each channel. That is not a big enough amp for both subs.

 

You can series(Positive to negative between the subs) the subs to get an 8 Ohm load, once bridged, the amplifier will react to a 4 ohm load, you're safe, note polarity on the amp (+/-).
Or, by building a dual chamber cabinet, you can connect each sub to each channel in 4 Ohm.

Put one sub per channel, have each sub in a seperate chamber. and go at it.
