Jl 13tw5

hey guys, im lookin at possibly gettin one of these http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=245

to run under the back seat of my truck, anyone used em? also ill be running a 2 channel 4 ohm mono stable amp (or at least thats the hope) seeing as they are a 3 ohm coil is that gonna give me issues with overheating and goin into protect mode constantly? (i have a feeling yes, but im hoping no lol) otherwise i either have to look for different subs, or a new amp. and so far finding a sub thats gonna like a > 1^3 box is like george bush tryin to tie his shoes on his own...

suggestions if this wont work?

I just installed a 13TW5 into my truck. So far it sounds pretty amazing, especially considering its only in a box with approx .7 ft3 of airspace. I was told that it should break in a bit and sound better after a little bit of time. Mine is running off of a 500W mono JL audio amp that's stable to 1.5ohm. It will probably cause issues with your amp if it's only stable to 4 ohm. What model is the amplifier?

its a PPI2240 amp, im thinkin i might end up selling my amps and 2 12s that i have now and then buying the 13TW5 and a JL amp either the J2 500.1 or the XD600 to run it.

Most of the time a 3ohm load won't bother a 4ohm mono amp.

What year and make is your truck? Mine is 2009 F150 instead of the JL flat sub I went with 2 8 inch W3. I did have room for 3 or 4. Something to think about for options. (I wish I went with 4!!!). But honestly even 2 is quite nice.

its a 2010 ram 1500 crew cab, im thinkin just the one sub should be good plus replace the door speakers (6x9s) with 6.5s

in my old dakota i had 2 JL 12w1v2s in custom boxes on the back seat, this time i want to put everything under the rear seat in that nice little storage compartment, nice neat and clean

I originally typed All but then some dude with some LearJet amp from 1987 would go and put one on it and nuke the amp and I would be the bad guy..
