Wireing Up Deck Help.
Wireing Up Deck Help.
I have a Kenwood KDC-205 Deck.
Now, it only has one pair of RCA outputs. So I am running those to my Sub amp, and for the speaker wires, I have those in a line converter, to convert to RCA wires, to run to my other amp.
Now my questions are.
The wireing on the back of the deck follows.
- Pair of Green, and Green w/ Black strip. Rear L
- Pair of White and White w/ Black Strip. Front L
- Pair of Brown and Brown w/ Black Strip. Not labled, but is beside the White pair. I would assume it is the Front Right.
- Pair of Purple and Purple w/ black strip. Not labled, but is beside the Green pair. I would assume those are the Rear Right.
- Now. Beside the Brown set, is a set of Blue and Blue w/ Black strip. I do not know what these are for. It seems to be a 5th speaker wire. Could it be a wire version of the RCA output/sub output, if the RCA's are not used ?
- Next, is a Red wire. I would assume that is the +12V wire ?
- A black wire. I would assume that is Ground ?
- A Tan wire that says Tel Mute. I don't know what that would be for ?
- Lastly, a Yellow Wire. Would this be Remote ?
If I can all this sorted out, it would be a big help.
Thanks.

red is 12 volt battery lead
yellow is ignition lead
tel mute is if your car has a phone
black is ground
sorry i cant help with the speaker leads though they have slipped my mind
my piece of advice for those is refer to your manual or installdr.com
they have wireing descriptions and deck install hlep most likely for your car or truck.
Alright thanks on the blue wires.
Does it matter what blue wire I use for my remote to my amps ?
Also, the site does not help me. I am doing the total system in my 1977 Monte Carlo., but I have it figured out now.
Lastly, what do I do with the yellow wire, like where can I connect it to.

For the blue wires, IIRC the solid blue wire is the amp remote wire and the blue/whiteline is the radio remote wire. Eg the blue/white will only be powered once the radio is on, but the solid blue will always be powered, you want to use the solid blue.
As for the yellow wire, use a multimeter and find a 12v power source that only goes on when the car turns on, sometimes the cigerette lighter is powered off the ignition.
