spray foam and amp clipping

I was thinking of putting semi expanding foam in my trunk lid to help with vibrations. Would this help at all and should I use regular spray foam or is there a special product for that.

Also I was wondering if anyone could answer this. For instance you have an amp that is 2000 rms running on a 110 amp alternator and also a 2600 rms amp running the same alternator in a differnent car. Would the bigger amp clip less? I know that 110 amps is not enough for either amp but it's just a question of curiosity. Thanks.

If you use spray foam, make sure it's low expansion, cover all the holes you don't want it seeping out of and make sure you let it cure. Once its dried cut off excess with a razor blade, then what I did in my old trunk car was spray bomb the inside trunk lid with rubberized undercoating (3bux a can) spray light layers with drying time between.

Thanks. I think that spray foam will be my best bet. Did it work for you in cutting down on vibration at all?

It takes that long to expand? hmmm......My spoiler rattles pretty good but I also lost 2 bolts inside the trunk lid trying to put it on. Those also rattle. I can't get the damn things out. The bolts are not magnetic so a magnet fetcher won't work and I can't see where they are to use a small grapler. they are in there for good. That's one of the reasons I wan't to use spray foam is to stop those damn bolts from rattling. I wonder if the foam will work.

I think the concern is more about bending the exterior sheet metal of the car which can happen if you get carried away, most commercial foam will expand to its final volume in 1 to 2 minutes but temperature and how much foam you use can alter this

You won't need much as long as the bolts get cought in the goop they won't rattle and the foam. Will grab the metal and stop the loose metal type of vibration

I've never noticed a problem flexing the exterior shells using low expansion (for a trunk lid anyway) but MTA has is bang on about going a little at a time, that lid I had was the deadest thing in that car

I think I will go ahead with it and do a bit at a time. Thanks guys.

Hey I have been trying to find an answer to this question everywhere about amp clipping. Will a bigger amp clip less than then a smaller amp on a charging system that is not up to snuff?. I had a bxi20006d ( about 1700 watts ) and sold it cause I wanted something different. I have 110 amp alt and no headlight dimming ( well very slight ) big 3 done aswell and good battery. I want to buy a different amp and I am thinking about the brz2100. Will that amp want to clip more cause ites bigger and not getting enough current. I know that a bigger amp will clip less if the current is there but what if it's not. I am also thinking of the audiopipe ap30001d and running it at 2 ohms a side. ( 950 rms x 2 @ 2 ohms. ) what do ya think?
