added an amp, now less power?!
hey guys, first off i appreciate you taking the time to view my thread, i'll keep it short and sweet... first off, i'll list my compents...
-audiobahn triple subwoofer bandpass box, specs can be found here... http://www.mimousa.com/home.asp?dir=products&prod=1261...
- profile 1200w which is listed here http://www.millionbuy.com/prfap1200.html...
- power acoustick 5 farad capacitor http://www.millionbuy.com/pakpcnc-3f.html...
from the beginning:
I had a pretty basic setup, the 3 subs and and one of those amps with an 8 gauge wire running to it, they sounded pretty decent and all was well... (btw i believe they were wired series-parallel)
the problem:
I decided since the subs could handle more power, i purchased another amp and a cap... i ran ot 1/0 gauge wiring to a distribution block which feeds two 4 gauge wires (one to cap, one to the other amp since apparently the cap isn't meant for multi-amp systems)... obviously remote lines sending 12v to both amps and rca cables and blah blah blah... both the amplifiers work, and each subwoofer is receiving power through parallel wiring (tried series just for kicks but isn't making a diff).... the subwoofers (given i've added another amp and thicker wiring) have lost power through my new addittions... what gives? i know that it could be several problems since it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause, but any ideas and thoughts are most greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

are you using 2 of the profile amps from what im understanding. if you are im assuming that they are not strapable there for how did you wire up 3 subs to 2 amps??? it cant be done unless they are DVC subs wich in case you can wire 3 coils to each amp but the gain would have to be matched so perfectly.
I agree with Creed... who beat me to the post...
You really need to give us more information of how you are connecting the second amp.
From the website, the sub box seems to have 3 woofers wired together to give a 4 ohm total connection. I only see 1 terminal block on the box. This would work fine with one of the amps which will puts out 600 watts bridged into 4 ohms...So far so good.
So tell us how you changed the wiring inside the subbox in order to connect 3 subwoofers to 2 separate amps?

3 subs in parallel to 2 unstrappable amps? oh man this is interesting. this threat is short of a few pics of the install itself to make it a classic.
here we go....
your subs are single 4 ohm according to the site, so right now all in parallel you have it at 1.33 ohm.
one of your amps ratings are as follows......
# RMS Output Power (2 Ohms): 300W x 2
# Bridged RMS Output Power (4 Ohms): 600W x 1
so your amp is not 1200 watts, its actually 600 watts. and if its only rated to run at 4 ohm mono how did you have it wired at 1.33 ohm to begin with? it should/will blow up playin that low.
so now you added a second amp.....everything in parallel you have 1.33 ohm on the subs. the amps are not strappable, they are 2 channel class a/b amps
how you wired 1.33 ohm to 4 channels (pair of 2 channel amps) is beyond me.
in summary, those subs and one of those amps is BAD COMBO. further, two of those amps with those subs is an even worse combo. I'd suggest something here but im clueless, the sub website doesnt even say their power rating.
from experiance i can tell you that the issue might be that your box is a Triple Big Window with suppleather Mirror, normally when you run 2 amps you would need a Quad Big Window with NON suppleather Mirror. Give that a shot.

ahhh, my friend hooked it up and did a great job the first time so i trusted he knew what he was doing... anyway, basically what i'm asking is what's the best way to wire these subs? parallel, series, parallel-series? and is there anyway i can get use out of both amplifiers? should i ditch the cap? thoughts would be excellent!! thanks a ton for all the responses!!

i would sell off the two amps and the cap and get a 1oms amp not a 4oms amp
