Amp/sub question...

Im stumped on this one haha cant seem to figure out what i need to do, i think im overthinking all this lol.

Ok i am getting 4 15" subs they are 2ohm dvc's. Ok so i either do all 4 wired together for a 1ohm load or 4 ohm. Or i seperate them and have a .5ohm,2ohm or 8ohm load. Now which am i better off doing? all wired together for a 1ohm load or seperate at 2ohm?And i will be running 2 amps aswell.

Tell us what amps you are running? Oh also the amps specs for us who might not know..

That will always make or break what final impedence you choose for the woofers.

ahh ok. Well I'm pretty sure series/parellel wiring is usually best to do. So series them all to 4 ohms, then parellel down to 1ohm.

Now searching for a 1ohm stable amp. Why do you choose to do 2 amps? why not 1 large one? What's the power handling on your 15's? If you do 2 amps I guess you'll always have a backup if something happens to one.
Do you have any amps in mind?

Stumped by an amp choice? Have you given any thought to the room that the box for four 15's is going to take up? If not, then you had better ensure that you have the box room first before you go and buy the subs. If you screw up on one part of the equation of the match of box to subs to amp, the whole darn works is a complete waste of money.

^^^ Yes sir!! he nailed it!!

I was thinking about that shortly after i posted... You better make sure you have enough space.

If you do 2 amps, you will have to match gains to make sure they push same power to all 15's. If you do 2 amps that are strappable, then you can wire all subs together. How do you plan on laying out this build? Let us know or post a couple of pictures of design's, etc. What vehicle?

You could do it in the cargo area no prob. You've got 28 cubic feet of cargo room, trust me I measured mine a dozen times. I looked at alpine and JL's to see the specs and it looks like a sealed box would cost you about 12 cubic feet, a ported a lot more.

Would be interesting to see your design, I'm going stealth on my install.

Have you also thought about the massive electrical upgrades that this system will require?
