Rear Door Woofers?
Rear Door Woofers?
I have an SUV, components up front with 12"s going in the cargo area. The rear doors are currently not used and can take 6.5" with a baffle, possibly bigger with some custom work.
What are your guys thoughts on adding mid-bass back there? Pros/Cons/Advice?

Mid-bass is better in the front doors if you can fit it in.....

My $0.02 worth....
...plus it sounds like crap in the back for the times you do have people back there. Deaden your front doors, seal them as best you can, properly mount the largest good quality mid/midbass you can, and give them lots of power (mine are getting 200+ watts each) if you want midbass.
I will have a 06 4runner soon and am also trying to figure out how to utilize a 3 way comp set of Canton QS 3.28's with their big *** 10" mid bass speakers??? think it might take quite the install if at all possible to get those in the front doors, thoughts?
Morel Integra
I´d also sugest the morel integra 6"
I have that canton qs 3.28 set.. or had it..now I just have the 10's hehe.
Anyway, contrary to the general consensus here, big drivers IMO don't equal killer midbase from what I have experienced. And I think time and time again people going bigger and bigger on other forums and never being happy. It's not the way to do it.
The best punchiest midbase I ever had was with undersized 6.5inch comps and not with some beefy *** 8's or that 10inch canton paire. Not so say the beefy mids didn't produce good midbase but the extra size mostly just made them better at playing lower and of course louder.
Also midbases in the rear can be done and localization cues can be worked around... because of what is referred to as the "cone of confusion" hehe. However the way it can be done basically means turning your head at all breaks the illusion so it's not all that practical.
Lastly, great midbase, IMO, has more to do with the recording then the setup. Some songs are just midbase monsters and others are not.
