Question possable speaker problem need help?

I have 4 identical speakers in my car and the front passenger side speaker
cuts in and out and is distorted sometimes, but then its sounds totally normal other times
Is it the speaker itself? all the other speakers including the sub sound fine.
The deck runs the back speakers and the power amp runs the front and sub.

Clarion deck
Sony xplod power amp 4/3/2
4 Jbl coax speakers
Clarion subwoofer
any ideas?
all bought brand new about a year ago unfortunatly warranties up

thanks

I had the same problem and it may be a problem with the soldered joint. I took off the door panel cut the wire maybe a half inch from the speaker, removed the solder, re-stripped the wire and reconnected it. It could be other things but I try this considering it's fairly easy and won't take too much time and you'll know right away if it works.

Thanks Steven

Thats my name too by the way.
Im hoping it's just the speaker and not the Sony power amp.
I know its not the deck because the back speakers are fine running independantly off the deck.

I ordered another pair of Jbls for the front spkr just in case.

by the way how do you take a door panel off ?I dont have electric windows nor power locks
it's a Kia Rio 2003
is there a website with step by step diagrams to show you how?
I had trouble finding one.

thanks

Yeah I'd say check the connections before changing out any speakers.
Also I couldn't find any specific diagram on how to remove the door panels on your car, but it should be as simple as removing a few bolts around the panel and maybe under the arm rest/handle. Then you should be able to pull the panel off because it will only be clips holding it on after that. If you can't figure it out you should buy a "Haynes" manual. They're vehicle specific and it will tell you how to pull the door panel off as well as multiple other things to your vehicle.

BTW what model are the JBL speakers? If they are the CS series, there is a chance it is the speaker itself. The coil could be scraping on the pole piece causing some unpleasant noise

Jbl gt5-652

JBL GT5-652 bought 2 pairs for front and rear 6 1/2s

there not an expensive speaker but they sound great the deck was about $700, I think that is what makes the difference so ive been told.

Probably not the speaker itself, most likely a connection. Follow your wiring.

Trace the wire. Like others have mentioned, it's probably a connection. In one case I've seen a wire that was partially cut midway between the deck and speaker causing strange sounds like intermitant static and/or cut out. The wire had been cracked at a bend near the door jam. You may have to replace a section of wire or run a new piece.

It's probably not the speaker. It would not work if there were something wrong with the VC or spiders.

You may have to trace an RCA to the amp for that channed as well. I had an old home stereo with a poor connecting RCA that caused scratchiness. Shone it up and it went away.
