painting fiberglass

Currently have the skeleton done for my amp rack. Well, it's more like an amp tray, actually. . .fleeced and will glass this week.

My question is that once it's done, I want to paint it. Do I need to go spend the 150$ on a compressor gun, or can I just use a specific brand of spray paint?

Suggestions welcome. . .

Any spray can will work, not as nice a finished just make sure to use a good sealer-primer, so the bare glass doesn't suck in all the good paint.

Thanks guys. . .

So, glass it 2 layers enough? And can I do the two layers in the same step, one right after the other, or do I wait it out overnight?

Then sand, filler, sand, prime, paint, done??

I dont know which is more frightening, your asking if a rattle can can be as good as a spray gun or people answering yes

the paint will make OR break a build, hire a professional

I have to agree. I have seen only one time where rattle can looked like a gun job and the owner spent a LOT of time wet sanding and polishing it. If you can get it prepped properly then you can usually get the paint sprayed for a decent price.

I have never seen a paint can look as good as a spray gun on anything. I'd get a professional to do it for you.

I don know what is more retarded.... You thinking that the spray gun being much better then the spray can is common knowledge or saying that the first two answers were implying that the can is just as good as spray gunning.. The first saying not as nice and the second saying it does an "ok" job.

Agreeing with getting a pro do it....but that's no fun at all...get the spray gun and practice on something other than the rack first....it's really not that hard after some practice and you will be using the spray gun again.

I'm sure there's a few YouTube vids to show the basics.

I use spray can and it does a good job, as long you know what you doing. I have seen spray gun do sometimes mess up too. Just depend on your hand movement and how you do it.
