alpine pdx 1000 SHUTS OFF. not Protection mode.

hello. been a long while since i been here. i have a alpine pdx 1000.1 and it keeps shutting off at high output. i have tried two different decks, i have tried different powersupplys and wires.

it seems to turn off more at higher bass frequencies, i can get some good lower bass but deffinatly the higher ones is where is cuts out more.

the blue lights turn off and the amp is off for a few seconds. i have tried putting a battery charger to the battery to see if maybe that would help, when its charging the amp shuts off more then when it is not charging.

i have tried everything i think its just that the amp is broken, but it has been this way since i bought it from Visions in edmonton, i wouldnt be suprized if they sold me a brick, they have before.

it is hooked up to a apline type x 10 inch. which is dual 4 ohm coils, wired to 2 ohms,.

the pdx is 1000rms at 1, 2, or 4, ohms so i dont think that has to do with it..

i also have another amp rockford power 1000rms and it works fine in the same setup.
HELP

Have you put a DMM on the coils of the sub? Perhaps they're cooked a bit and are less then 4 ohms each?

i just put a ohm meter on the speaker leads, 2.2 , which makes sense I have it wired to that. the voltage with the car running is at ~14 and when the bass goes it goes down to ~13. with the car off its at 12 and it can go down to high 10s.

Could be a bad ground connection, maybe?

And do not let your voltage drop that low!

Check your fuse holder, check your batteries resting voltage overnight, and double check your grounds. If your battery is resting less than 12.4 volts give it a full charge.

What size is your power wire and fuse?

hi giuz. I got a new ground, and it is a little better. it still shuts off while really loud. I have bought some 0/2 gauge wire for the power, maybe that will fix it. I will admit my power wire now is a little skinny.

hypothetically speaking, if I was using (instead of a remote turn on wire from the deck) a wire to jump from the + terminal on the amp to the remote input on the amp, if the voltage drops could that shut the amp off?
