Recent drop in sub performance: Diagnosis?
Recent drop in sub performance: Diagnosis?
My current sub setup is as follows:
1x 10" Infinity Reference (1.2 cu. ft. vented)
Audiobahn 400x2 (Bridged)
I've had this setup for approx. 3 months. One of my favourite songs to play in my car is Alexisonfire's "This could be anywhere in the world". Mostly for the bowel-shaking boom during the drum intro. (If you know the song you know what i mean) I put the cd in, put the song on, and there was no boom. Strangely enough, the quick hits from the bass drum were still there. I have not changed the settings on the amp, and after checking, everything looked to be normal.
What could cause this loss of performance? Any recommendations to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance!

i really thing it is your EQ or your sub out settings. my deck has reset my settings and I didnt notice till i put on a song i know hits hard. possibly your freq cut off? id keep fiddlin around with your deck and try stuff out. unless you touched something on the amp?
Well...since i'm in the middle of doing some serious upgrades, i rewired the whole car with 0 and 4 AWG, and put in new RCA's for the subs, and to top it off i bought a kenwood 9102 monoblock.
THERE WASN'T MUCH IMPROVEMENT!
could this be because of my deck or battery??? I'm fresh out of ideas here!

I play that song almost daily and always here the low extension. Your crossover plays a hugh role in this. The frequencies from that part of the song are 50hz to 80hz. Make sure your crossover Low Pass cut off frequency is around the 70hz/80range!
BTW - Its not your wiring! CROSSOVER!!!!
I can guarantee the problem is the crossover - since you still hear Jordan's kick drum!
Check the crossover in your deck and amp!
Keep me posted!
