HU forgetting settings?

I just installed a *used* Nakamichi cd-400. It forgets the settings (fade, sub output, tone) everytime I start the car.

Have i mis-wired something? Is the HU broken? Is there a NVRAM battery in the thing that needs replacing maybe?

Thanks for any tips.

I'm almost certain it's your constant 12v wire going to the deck. It may have been wired to a switched 12v supply, or not wired at all. Usually its the yellow wire from your deck. The constant 12v wire gives power to the deck even when the car's off to maintain audio settings and radio stations.

I think this one was labeled *battery* in my case, and was yellow - but I did wired that up properly. maybe the fuse that is inline on that wire is blown?

thanks for the tip.

Use a test light or a multimeter to see if it is getting 12v when the cars is off, If it is, then I'm not sure what your problem is, it may be the deck. cheers.

Check the fuses inside and the fuses under the hood (some vehicles have radio fuses under the hood as well as inside, mine did anyways)
