Should I follow the positive lead all the way back throught the fuse box?, or should I run directly to my battery and add a fuse to the new wire? (I was just going to leave the current wire in place).

o, and since whoever is answering is likley knowledgable on the big three, i

have an addition to this question. when grounding the altinator, can i just

ground from the altonator mounting bolt to my battery neg? the existing wire

goes from the engine block (which is impossible to reach, front diff is in the

way) to the neg batt terminal, and the neg batt has two grounds, one to

frame one to chassis. i think this will work? haha, sorry for SLIGHTY jacking

chen123... the answer to your question is you could run through the fuse box but i would recommend running a new wire from the alt to the batt and put a fuse on the end near the batt and leave the factory wire in place

run your ground to the same place that the battery ground to not the battery

 

frame ground or chassis ground? my battery is grounded to both.....or does it matter? also, is it fine if i just ground from the altinator mounting bolt? or should i dig in and ground from where the original wire is (engine block to battery neg) ?

vannymck: Your alt will be grounded to the block...just replace the block to chassis ground.

Your battery will also be grounded on it's own, simply replace that ground as well, not sure why you have 2...but if your concerned do both.

 

ya i already did both from the battery cuz i was worried about it


the reason why i'm asking about the altenator ground is because i have located the existing block to chassis ground wire, but it is 99% impossible to get at with a rachet because my front diff is in the way. i was hoping to save
time by running a different ground wire from the mounting bolts.....?

 

Just add your own ground then, don't worry about the one you can't access, juice will flow through the path of least resistance anyway.

 

so now i got another question, is that ground wire going to be to close
to my rad hose? im worried about the heat? or will it be fine?
