Sirius install - power question

I just picked up the direct plug in for the pioneer head unit. Everything is pretty straight forward as far as installation goes. I am just curious on the power and ground. Can I tap into the same power/ground as the head unit or possibly even the power/ground for the amp. The amp might be better distance wise as I mite install the unit under the seat. Any help would be great thanks in advance

i dont think it matters,Personally i would run it off the deck but if you want to have it under your seat i guess what ever is easiest just remember that what ever you plug it into shuts off (obliviously i know) but my friend hooked his into the constant 12v wire from his deck and every morning he had to boost his car but he didnt think of it being the sirius radio box because he had had 2 boost his car before and whenever he went to look at it was off cuz his battery was dead lol and the only thing i can think is just dont put too much voltage through it because are there any fuses in that little box

i hope were thinking about the same thing?

Should work fine.

i would run it off a empty acc slot in my fuse pannel , but thats just me .

i don't think those little things take much current so if you want to splice it into your stereo power then go ahead . or pull it off your ignition switch , or amp power wire . ground it the the frame /body / metal . or the ground wire from the deck , but it just goes to the frame /body / metal anyway .

in the picture it shows it connecting to the positive of the battery. Meaning constant power which is wierd. Also there is a fuse on the wire before it goes into the box itself, so thats covered. If it does need the constant power (who knows why) then the amp power should be fine. I will have to look into it to make sure, if not I will need to extend the wires to reach the deck unless I put the unit under the dash, I will have to check been ahile since I looked not sure how much room I got under there. Thanks for posts tho. I felt kinda the same way just needed some reassurance
