more questions!

I want to switch my stock speakers with some better ones,I have a dual channel amp running a sub, how do I wire the speakers? can I just replace the speaker and use the wire that's already there? or do I connect those stock wires to tthe amp, then from the amp to the speakers? or would it work both ways but sound better through the amp? or am I such a noobiest car audio noob and should try my hand at car washing first?

Are you running a stock deck? I presume not if you are running a sub. I assume you are running 2 new speakers?

Depending on how many watts your speaker replacements are you have a couple of options.

1. Run the new speakers off your deck. Will provide very little power and most likely not a great sound improvement.

2. Run speakers off the 2 channel and get a new mono for your sub. This is expensive but is ideal. You would have lots of power for all your speakers (with the right speaker/amp selection).

3. Buy a cheap 2 channel amp to run your speakers off of. I got my speaker amp for $150 new (old stock).

4. Buy an amplifier with 4 channels. You could run your subs off 2 channels bridged and your speakers off of the other 2 channels.

Honestly, I would buy another amplifier.

I have to disagree with that one. Assuming the OP is NOT running off a stock deck, replacing the stock front stage with a set of good speakers WILL sound better. It wont be louder but the quality of the sound will be much better .. well, depending on the replacement speakers anyway.

I find that just replacing the speakers generally leaves the stereo sounding kind of bland. There is sound, but no real definition. Mind you, I never bought aftermarket speakers that were meant to be run off such low power. I always purchased with the plan to power them with an amp in the future.

Yeah replacing them with a set of high quality/high powered set of speakers that is meant to run with an amp will have the opposite effect.

But a decent set of Pioneer 6.5's or what not rated for 100 watts would sound much better than a set of stock 10 watt speakers. Bleh.
