Decent 5x7s for factory replacements.

I am looking for decent 5x7s for a Ford Escape. I will be running them off of a Alpine 9887, and have no intentions in adding a second amp to run them with. I have narrowed it down to three choices, that I am interested in.

1)JL Audio Tr570-CXi
2) Alpine Type Ss
3) Focal Access 570

I would use the ones that are the most sensitive.

Talking

"Sensitivity" is only one of the numbers you need to know about speakers. It refers to the # of decibels (volume level) put out by the speaker with a given amount of power over a given freqency range fed into it.

There are a lot of numbers involved in speakers and car audio in general for that matter. Getting hung up on numbers, especially when you are new to the hobby, will probably drive you crazy, since none of the numbers can tell you how a given speaker is going to sound to you.

The best answer to your question can be found on the sides of your head. Take your ears and a CD to however many stores you like and listen to music you know thru as many different speakers as you can. Since you will be running them off a deck, try and get the people at the stores to demo the speakers in similar circumstances.

Personally I like the JLs myself.....I have a set of the XR series of 5.25" components in my van and felt at the time they sounded at least as good as any other speakers I auditioned and were a very good value for the money.

That's my $0.02 worth
