I recently bought a used 2007 GTI. Now the previous owner had an aftermarket HU which he kept. As I was putting the stock HU back in, I noticed two wires with audio jacks (like the regular earphone ones) in the radio slot. I started looking where they went and they go under the dash, under the lower plastic trim by the door then to the back of the car.

I got around to taking off the inside panels and I saw it lead to a Jensen antenna-thingie glued to the hatch's glass at the very top. I've tried looking it up on their site but no luck so far.

There's a round part in the middle with the Jensen logo and wires that go along the glass to each side.

Any idea what this is?

dunno for sure, but it looks/sounds, like it is the tv tuner antenna from a jensen tv/dvd deck. if it is, I'm sure the previous owner will be choked he forgot it.lol...

 

Hit the nail on the head! It's from the VM9510.

I'll check if the HU is at a reasonable price. But I don't want to lose my steering wheel controls. Oh well...
