this is such an open ended question

i'll start i guess

what vehicle?
music preference?
installing yourself or taking to an installer?
any plans to upgrade in the future?
willing to spend more than your budget?

once you figure out what the other guys asked, look for deals on good used equipment as well. With a G note for your budget, you can stretch that pretty far with nearly new/used equipment from reputable members, and others.

completely depends on perferred set up man
so many factors depend on you system. alot more than most people getting started in the game expect.

1000$ isn't much... but you can deffinately make a good system for it.

veeman was right, start off good used to equipment from reputable members like myself before buying retail.

retail is rediculous prices.

Retail is rediculous prices, spoken by someone who does not have the slightest idea about how to operate a business. Wow, just wow. Hey, guess what, I am a dealer, a site authorized one and I do not sell at retail. Never have sold at retail either. A quick check of my i-trader feedback shows 100% + from people all across Canada. So by the same token as you painted dealers with, why buy used with no warranty on items that may not be in your best interest when you can buy new with warranty and guarantee the results?

ok well i dont know if your taking a hit at me just because your a retailer. or whatever BUT

i know that in SEVERAL SHOPS AROUND THE GTA, kitchener, waterloo, guelph and soo on.
retail absolute garbage products for extremely high prices.
YES I REALIZE WHAT RUNNING A BUSINESS IS LIKE.
but i dont understand why anyone would pay 1000 for an amp that puts out like 900 watts. thats absolutely rediculous in my mind.

when u can get stuff from alot of great guys that have been used a few months and want to just switch it up every so often.

so what im saying is theres other options.

and no retail place will get u a substancial SYSTEM FOR 1000$ FLAT. NO WAY.
IT WOULD BE GARBAGE.
that includes EVERYTHING from wire, fuses, h/u, amps, subs, components, rear fill, sound deadner, possible second battery, upgrade electrical.

so dont try to fool me with BUSINESS BULL

^ you really dont have a clue

someone has to buy new stuff or everyone would have a "2loud4u is a scammer" signature from buying used crap. You dont like the fact products cost money YOU feel is higher than it should be, coming from a reference point of used equipment it is. Remember used is simply buying something someone else doesn't want.

Retailers are the life blood of the industry, they put on shows, they offer advise, they tech, they invest time in you, they perform installations for you, they carry equipment in their storage areas so you can walk out with your purchase today, they offer a full warranty, they allow everyone to listen before they buy. Not too many car audio shop owners are buying new Mercedes either so their markup isn't as much as it could be.

Put a few more retailers out of business and we are all screwed. Unethical people selling new products below cost on eBay has had a terrible affect on the industry.
