Question with Rockford P3001 and Alpine Type R
Question with Rockford P3001 and Alpine Type R
I have a rockford p3001 mono amp. It has two channels.
The sub im hooking up to it is a 10" alpine type R.
The amp is rated at 150 watts at 4 ohm and 300 watts rms ar 2 ohm.
When i hook it up to me type R there seems to be barely any power.
I tried using a friends amp that gave 100 watts rms and it sounded better than the rockford amp.
Does anyone know why this is so?

You may be confused on how to connect the sub properly. Your amp is a monoblock, so it does not have two channels. it may have two inputs, which are bridged inside the amp. Refer to the amp manual for correct hook-up. Also, you have to see what ohmage the sub is, and wire it properly, as it is probably a dual voice coil. It could be wired to 8 ohm load, or something. Please refer to on-line manuals on how to wire the sub accordingly for its rating. You may be making more than one mistake, therefore the sound is so low.
