Alright guys.. my friend is giving me a new Punch2 p2d212 sub. without the box.. So i'm going to be running out to future shop to grab a box.. Now i don't have any experience putting these together.. I know thats its a dual 2ohm sub.. does this need to be wire specifically? Its just gonna be a single 12" in my trunk..

 

it can either be wired to a final load of !ohm or 4Ohm, so it depends on the amp, if the amp is 1Ohm stable then wire it in series, if not then wire it in parallel.

 

Its gonna be powered by the fosgate p300-1.. So its definately gonna run at 250w at 2ohms..

Never put together a sub in the box.. so when i do wired it.. do i just attach the positive wire to the outlet leading outside and the negative to the negative outside?

 

you said it was dual 2 ohm sub, you cant wire it to 2 Ohms, like I said, either 1 or 4 ....

 

kinda confused about the ohms..

okay i was browsing 12volt.com and figured out some of the diagrams.. what do you recommend me connecting the final load at? series or parallel? again.. its the p300-1..

the way a sub is wired presents a certain load to an amp.
in your case, your sub is a dual 2 Ohm voice coil, which has two wiring configurations possible. 1 Ohm and 4 Ohm, so, being that your amp probably wont safely take a 1 Ohm load you have to wire the subs in parallel to present the amp a 4 Ohm load

the best you're going to get is 150 watts going safely to that sub.

...in short, no, they are not a good match.

 

like what he said this is a safe load for your amp , the other way would be positive together and negative together to give you a 1 ohm load but you would need a better amp to mate with your sub
