Working in the voice coil Question..

Hi,
Yesterday i got a Type R and a M-850 installed in my car yesterday
When i came to pick up the car they guy who serviced it told me to work in the voice coil for 4-5 days by not cranking it up too high and to keep my bass setting to -5. Im just wondering after the 4-5 days can i truly blast the system buy putting my bass to 0 and cranking the volume to around the 20 mark? Im just scared b/c i dont want to blow the sub.

the chances are you could take a new sub and blast it right away with no problems, its still probably a good idea to break a sub in just to eliminate any risks but you should be fine after a coupple days

is a new sub supposed to have that "burning" smell?
the guy told me that it should subside after 4-5 days.. is that normal?

Not a problem.. it's excess glue on the coil that is being heated up
