Just wondering what everouts output is on running a system in the winter?

does anyone do it? im sure some do.....but i gues what im asking is, is it good for the equipment?

Here is my question. With it being so cold, and an amp getting WARM, it causes Condensation, water, now wouldn't this be bad? I haven't had any problems my self. but I have noticed a bit of rust appearing on my PG ZX450....so that's why I ask.

 

I am not sure why but those amps tend to rust. I had a pair of them that were starting to show some rust (just specs) when I sold them. I have seen others that are more rust then shine. If you search for used ones on ebay you will notice alot of them that are rusted as well there was a guy at one point selling replacement shells for the amps.

 

this is what i have found. in central canada, there is alot of damage that happens to electronics because of the cold.(sask, manitoba, etc) it gets mighty cold and yes there is damage that happens with repeated warming and cooling but it is not an "accross the board" problem. very sparatic but i see it more in central canada. in ont i get some of the rustiest amps ever. ive had to replace more covers and found more boards with rust on them like easterners. but unbeliveably the least amount is probably from the 2 coasts. i think(and im guessing here) is cause they dont use salt on roads and there is less of this rust loving mix that they put on roads that in the end. this is what makes rust appear on the vehicles and as much as i hate to say it. the electronics. i worked in a service department for 4 years. and saw all kinds of wierd stuff.

hope this sheds some light on it from a different point of view

I've been running this setup for over a year now, and my previous setup was almost five years old. I drive about 50,000 kliks a year, city (P&D). The audio system does minimum three hours a day, six or seven when I'm really busy, regardless of weather.

Never had a problem with condensation, corrosion, or rust......... yet.

 

The only thing I would really worry about would be your subs. If it gets REALLY cold out it is possible to make the surrounds a little stiffer and if you play it hard straight away there could be a possibility of splitting / cracking a surround.

 

so in short term's. play it loud when you first get into the car when it's cold, you will need a new sub. let it warm up before you crank it and you will be ok. just turn up the volume a little bit at a time, not all at once, just a little bit!!!! hehehehe i love heated garage's!!!!

 

Thanks guys, and yeah the rust is only on the cover of the amp too. maybe send it into trends get it re painted
