Which option is better, the JL HO112R-W7 slot-port box with the 12" W7, or using the 12W7 driver in my existing sealed box? Using my own box would save a few hundred but I don't know how good the JL box is.

Not to question your skills, but the JL box is probably built better. Also, because of the cool *** porting design, this box gets rediculously loud if powered properly.

If you want tones of output with incredible bottom end then go with the HO. If you want something that sounds fantastic no matter what you are playing stick with sealed.
