need some shipping help...

ok im going to be getting some subs from the U.S. and i was told that if i say they r going to be a gift all i have to pay is $60 tax max. now who do i tell this to and how do i tell them?

You'd have to tell the person shipping the item. They have to declare it before they ship.

like what do u mean they have to declare it b4 shipping? i was told when he fills out the shipping papers that he has to put down that its a gift.........its that all he has to do?

you can still get caught thought. If customs decides to inspect your shipment.....and they feel the value is worth more than what it is decleared as.........they will re-assess it for what they feel is the appropriate value.

Happend to me with some Blank CD-R's. They re=assesed it as $700 value and claimed it was computer software

It depends on who it gets shipped through as well. They don't seem to monitor the shipments sent via USPS or UPS as much as they do with FedEx or Purolator. I remember the guy at the post office telling me that it's easier to get stuff through using regular mail or UPS.
