US Amps 4000x Quick Test

I got a cheap current clamp and DMM to give me an idea of the amperage my 4000x can pull while driving my DMX 12's (4ohm load)

95-105ACV @ speaker output during a 50hz tone test

The weird thing is the current clamp only shows about ~10-15 ACA on the power input and also the speaker output. But when I switch between the 200 and 1000ACA setting, the reading jumps to 40-90amps for a split second

I used 2 batteries with a good charger running 30 ACA

Anyone got any ideas why the ACA reading is so low?

Speaker output is not supposed to be high current. It's converted from high current/low voltage to high voltage / low current.

Speaker outputs relativly low current but I think it should still higher then the readings i'm getting

Check out the results of an Earthquake D3 test by DbDon

1 ohm Reactive load(with a 1 ohm sub in a low imp rise ported box)
73 Volts AC
27.8 Amps AC
185 amps of current draw
Power(Watts RMS)=2030.00
Impedence Rose to=2.626 ohms

Almost 28 ACA is not that low!

And the power input is pretty much the same ACA as the speaker output... That is weird

You're comparing a D3 to a 4000x. If it were a 4000x with a 4000x, then there would be something funny with the setup. Some amps make their power using high output voltage to make up for a lower Amperage.

You're also comparing a class AB high current amp vs a Class D. In addition, you have an amp running at a 4 ohm load and the other at 1 ohm. These variables, let alone manufacturer itself, can make all the difference.
