What should I do?

I have a single Rockford Fosgate T212D4 in a box i slung together pretty quickly tuned to 35hz or 36hz
my amp is only a Kenwood KAC-9102D (850WRMS@2Ohm) and sub wired for a 2Ohm load

I'm finding that most music sounds like crap currently.. I listen to Rock, Metal, and Trance... what frequency should I tun my next box to?
Or should i use two ports and just move a cover over one at a time?

And yes, I'm already looking to upgrade the amp :P

i'm wide open for ideas on a new box.. it's going in the thunk of an 02 pontiac grand prix gt.. it can't be wider than 35.5" or taller than 14" so it can still sit as far forward in the trunk as possible

3/4" MDF is readily available here as is 3/4" 13ply plywood for the same price.. mdf is preferred unless someone can give me a reason to use plywood

I would make a sealed box, that type of music taste is punchy and to get "punchy" bass a sealed box is best IMO. I think that ported boxes sound sloppy most times due to the fact that i listen to all types of tunes, some may sound good while others sound like ***.
850 wrms from kenwwod amp is pretty decent and you should be able to get good bass from that amp.I wouldnt trade it til you get a sub/box figured out first.

some subs do sound good in a sealed enclosure but the RF T2 series
is not one of them
a ported enclosure with 2.0cf3 plus sub and port displacement with
tuning at 33hz would sound good with almost anything and have good
detailed tight bass with no slop and have much more out put than a sealed
enclosure
the woofer enclosure in the diagram you have is just a free on line adjust
to your woofer quick build chart...
what are the outside dimensions of the box that "you built" including port opening, length
I'll run it thru Termpak and see if there is a problem

that is the exact one i built, sub is mounted center on that front baffle
i'm thinking i should have played with the port a bit more to get the tuning to 33hz.. as you can see it's at 35.6hz
box volume before sub displacement is 3.122cu ft

box dimensions are: 36" wide, 14" high, 16.5" deep
port length: 24.25"
port width: 3.5"

port opening is 12.5" heigh x 3.5" wide and 24.25" long all made
with 3/4" MDF and a double baffle

""I took the 3/4" for the double baffle off the depth measurement""

your box has to much inner cf3 and the tuning is way to high to
sound good...your box is your biggest problem right now

I bet the low end extension is almost non existant and the SQ is like mud

thank you for running that through

and yes, that sounds about right
some low frequencies pound alright, while atleast half dont really seem to be produced

eg; chemical brothers block rockin beats

about half of the music is missing :P
