jl w6's in sunfire

i have 2 10" jl w6's and a soundstream amp i got for free and i am going to be putting them into gf's car. she has a 2001 sunfire. I'm going to be building the box for it and am wondering what dimensions should i use. The subs are in a box but it's too wide to fit in truck, Thanx for any help in advance.

1. Before you build another box, have you tried to fit the box by flipping down the back seat?

2. If the existing box is too large what type of enclosure do you want: ported or sealed?

The box is out of a chev truck, it sat behind drivers seat so i'm pretty sure it's to wide. Sealed, it's easier to make and she won't know the diffrence. Aslong as she has bass she'll be happy.

A sealed enclosure will fit easily. Just build it to 29" wide, 12" high and 10.25" deep. These are the internal dimensions though so you will want to add the thickness of the material you are using (I'd recommend 3/4" MDF).

so if i used 3/4" it would be 30.5, 13.5 and 11.75. And that will hold both my subs?

Sorry. I was mistaken, the 29" height, 12" height and 10.25" depth are the external dimensions.

It really doesn't matter. This box will sound best firing towards the trunk, sitting up against the back seat. Each sub has a mounting hole diameter of 9 inches so just cut your holes so that they are spaced 3.5" apart width wise and 3/4" on each side height wise.
