sub help!
alright so i need some help here...
i have an audiobahn A8002T amp. brdged for a single sub. (800x1 rms, although everyone says nothing close to that)
we put in an infinity 1230w (300 rms) in a q logic ported box.
well, within 3 minutes the stupid thing blew. so now im super parranoid about getting anything even close to 300RMS and i am looking at the audiobahn AWP312T 12" Subwoofer its something like 1200 rms. this SHOULD NOT BLOW right? but will it sound ok with the power i am putting through to it?
im in desperate need of some help here.
also, will this be ok in the q logic ported box? i can get the cubic feet if needed, also what happens if its not the "perfect , or recommended" box? still plays right?

ok, but does it matter? the size of the box, im not into competitions i just want something that hits hard, will any old box work? i dont need it to put the sub to its complete potential, but i dont want it to ruin/blow the sub...
also will this amp be able to move the sub or what?

guys, no one is really answering my questions...

i can cut the tube for proper tuning, or i can seal it if need be

Wrong.... Your amp is 400w rms on a good day, going downhill with all occupants rowing for all they are worth, + a tailwind and a sail. The sub MUST be a single 4 ohm coil. The AWP312T is a dual 4 ohm sub that will yield a 8 ohm series wired circuit and knock the amp power down to 200 w x 1 (so not a good idea) or it will yiels a 2 ohm parallel wired circuit and double the amps power to 800w x 1 (not what it was designed to do). The latter circuit will most definitely send the amp into clipping and blow the subwoofer in no time flat.
So for the 8th time dude, a single voice coil 4 ohm sub is what you need. Once you find the sub, then get the box designed around it. Just because a sub may have more power than what the amp is rated for does not mean that you can't blow it. This Audiobahn gear is so drastically inflated with their power ratings it is not even funny. My question is if you fail to take the advice I have give you, as you already have failed to take it before, you will continue to blow things up.

well no need to get all rude about it, but to let you know i havent chosen the awp312T yet, and the sub i had WAS a single voice coil 4 ohm. it was an infinity 1230W. if it is drastically lower than 400 RMS, then how did i blow a 1230W (300 RMS) in literally minutes? especially when i took it to a car audio installtion shop and had them dial the amp gain to the 'what they said correct' amount.
and about the audiobahn

this says its a dual 2 ohm... i may be misaken though :/
anywho, i just want a damn sub that doesnt smash records or break windows, but sounds powerful and doesnt blow...is that all too much to ask :/

hmm the infinity is a pretty decent sub it should take an ok beating. the only thing i can see being the destroying factor would be some sor tof distortion or gains set improperly. do you have the bass higher than 0, do you have loudness or any other "sound enhanching feature" turned on. well thats probably what killed it. if not your amp could be sending not so clean power out. failing that maybe the gods look down upon your system i dunno man i just work here.
