Visonik 4000xd tested!!!!!
We (at Perfect Tones) tested a Visonik 4000xd, and we came up with the following:
We used a Panasonic CQ-DP103U head unit with a dB Jams volume 6 disc in it. We played track 58 (for a 58hz burst) at volume 32. We use a Quad 1ohm Sig in one of my Super Street No-Wall boxes (you can see the boxes on my stats page) We use a PerfectCAP (similar to a BATCAP 8400) to give power to the amp. The resting voltage was 16.4. Droped to 14.5 during burp.
The testing equipment that was used were a Fluke DMM 112 and a Fluke Clamp meter 337.
1ohm reactive load
86.5 Volts AC
46.1 Amps AC
504 amps of current draw
Power (Watts RMS)=3988

Very cool.. A couple questions, just for my interest, not intended to disvalue your measurements.
I see the Fluke 112 is a True RMS meter, good work on that!
Very nice current clamp!
Did you have any way of monitoring the output waveform for clipping or distortion? I just want to be able to reference these numbers to what I got.
None the less, a very beleivable number, though the amp wasn't very efficient. Most amps draw about 100A of current per 1000W of power. Still, impressive and more so for the price of those amps...

Yes the amp is modded, and no we did not moniter for the output waveform for clipping. (I dont really care if the amps is sending triangle waveforms as long as it puts out a ton of paower and get me loud.
This si not Paul but this is Chris.
Everyone talks about the V4000XD amps being modded........ just so the everyone understands the mod is only removing protection so that the amp will not protect due to impedance or high voltage, it is not even really a mod all you do is remove some resitors. Just to clear all of that up...
