Subwoofer direction

Im a bit of a noob but learning as I go. I have done my own installs moving from one car to another without any issues. Now that I am not using a car anymore I have some questions I want to throw out. First ill list what I have for my system and vehicle:

Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch P2 2-Ohm DVC Subwoofer
Bassworx ported box wired @2ohm
Infinity 300 Watt Mono Subwoofer Amplifier (311A)
Generic 0.5 Farad Capasitor
All about to go into a 1992 Chevy Astro Van

I know its not the biggest system or the most bad ***. But it gives me enough bass that I can handle. In my old Mazda 626 it rocked the car to death. But now that spring is here Im itching to put this in my van. Ive always placed my sub facing the rear of the car pushing up tight against the back seat. This may or may not have been the best posible setup but it did work fine. Now that I do not have a trunk and its all open space I dont know exactly what to do. Do I do the same thing? Push the sub up against the back seats facing the rear? The thing with this is there is about 5 feet of open space between the sub and the rear doors. Now I do have the van now for a bit of convinence of having space back there. So Ideally id like to keep the sub pushed against the rear seat. But if that is not the best I will move it closer to the rear doors. Would be it be better to have the sub pushed up against the back seat and facing up? The distance from the sub to the roof is less than sub to the rear doors. I really do not know what to do. I guess I could keep trying different spots and compare, but I would really like to just install and make it semi permanant. Screw stuff down so it doesnt move around. Any thoughts or advice I will take anything I can get. Thanks.

ya try moving it around but also you might find a sub of that power wont have much punch in a van that size ( i am runing a clarion sub with 300watt to it in my grand caravan and i find it to be week compare to a car... but thats my opignion) sounds better at the rear door but still sounds ok at the seat
