I currently have 3 amplifiers and was curious about whether I needed a relay or not. I read somewhere that it wasnt completely necessary if I was not running many accesories from my deck's remote turn on wire.

You might be ok. I ran 3 devices (2 amps, 1 x/o) off the deck remote and all was fine. It depends on whether the deck can put out the remote power needed to turn on the amps. It isn't much, but does vary from amp to amp. I've realised a relay isn't that hard to install.

 

^^^ x2 plus you will be without tunes not to mention the cost of getting it fixed.
It's simple to install and very cheap.
