dash kits

I'm looking for a dash kit for a '99 Sonoma that will allow me to install an Audio Control Three.1 (1/2 DIN). I went to one of the local shops and they said that this isn't possible without making a custom kit myself. Is this true? I won't be installing a cd player in this location, only the equilizer.
