need help: power or ground wire?

I am new at this so please bare with me.

I split 2 wires that were together....one wire has a white stipe on it and the other doesn't. I need to know which one is ground and which is power.

if you're talking about your speaker wires, i use the stripe for the negative wire.

Isn't the striped wire usually the positive ?

does it really matter? It's just a preference [img]smile.gif[/img] as long as you connect it the same on both ends, it doesnt matter.

Manufacturers mark the positive lead, you can hook it up as negative BUT you have to be consistant

There is always a colour, a mark or ribbing on almost every + cable or speaker wire, as long as you are consistant (or lucky) the results will be as desired. There is nothing wrong with doing it backwards and using it as -, but it could confuse others who work on your vehicle.

I always go with negitive as beening the marked wire ALWAYS!!, I guess some people dont like it that way lol
