Using a Kicker 4 channel zx460 amp. Posted below that I had gotten rid of the alternator noise easier. Well on tweaking the system, in a quiet environment I could hear that their was a low hum when the volume setting was just above 0. However, if I removed one set of RCA's the hum would disappear. I know that this amp, if only given 2 channel input it will feed the same input to all 4 channels. If I switched RCA inputs or cables it didn't matter the hum would be there only if 2 pairs of RCA's (4 channel) were plugged in. Called Kicker today to ask them about it, and the tech. rep said you are getting "crosstalk", and it might be solved by puchasing a single pair of RCA's (short length) removing the outer ring (ground)on the pair and pluggin it in. Anyone heard of doing this? Running the front speakers and sub with the amp, I use a remote level control to adjust the input for the sub. (reason why i need the second input)

it could work, depending on how the amp is built inside. I know er had an old home stereo tune that you didn't need the outer connection for, because they were all connected inside.
