I was just wondering has anyone who either owned this model amp or has this amp ever attempted a 1 ohm wireup? If so did the amp handle it? I plan to run 2 image Dynamics IDQ12 D4 12V on the amp but was just wondering if the amp has ever been ran in 1 ohm mode or not. Wanna see if there are any stories before i go out and wire it up that way.

It will not be warrantied if you smoke it.....................it will do it for brief spurts but I would not do it if you are going to be using it all the time like that...........

I ran a 4250d full out at 1 ohm before I realized what ohm load it was. (3-4 days) Ran fine.

same with the 6500d.

prolly not recommend though.

Keep the gain down a bit

Well i have the subs wired at 4 ohm (8 ohme eache coil) and the amp hardly pulls thm so I am going to try to do it at 1 ohm and keep the gain way down maybe to half if not lower.

I have ran an MTX 6500d at 1 ohm only to test the thermal handling of this amplifier. The amp will run at 1 ohm with proper power and ground. I ran it full tilt untill it went into protection after 1 hour.

The amp is not recommended to run at 1 ohm. You will not gain any power from doing this and you will have less than half the control over the drivers.

Basically no warranty and no benifet in doing so.

You WILL gain power... considering his choices are 4 ohm or 1 ohm..... I've ran my 1000BD at 1 ohm for the past year and a half without problems of heat or anything. I was curious and it tested out to be 1600+ watts at 1 ohm. It is not receommended, however untill I get off my lazy *** and buy subs with a coil configuration that will suit my needs, its fine for now. I don't know how the electronics are in the 6500D, you may not see an increase in power bwetween 1 and 2 ohms, but you'll definetly see a difference compares to 4 ohms.

Although, as stated above, control will be lost, and heat will be an issue. if it doesnt fry first, you'll find it going into protection quite often....

correct my statement, yes you will gain nothing from 2ohm mono going to 1ohm.

Go and buy the proper voice coil configuration. Or anp a/b amp to run at 4 ohm mono.

sorry for the confusion.
